According to the Greensboro Police Department, the most dangerous areas of the city include the central downtown business district. The 2011 Greensboro crime map linked here indicates that Downtown is almost twice as dangerous as Uptown Greensboro.
Then there is the price of real estate. Not only is Uptown real estate more economical, it's also easier to find. Most of the strip malls, shopping centers and business parts located in the Uptown are teaming with empty office, retail and industrial spaces.
Uptown also has the advantage of having easier access to parking. Unlike Downtown where you pay to park your car in a metered space or a parking garage and walk for what might be blocks, Uptown workers and customers park in front of your door and park for free.
So when you go looking for a place to put your business, don't allow your realtor to point you to higher priced downtown locations when Uptown will do.
